Overview
Skidmore College is a small liberal arts college located in upstate New York. In 2018, the Lucy Scribner Library partnered with representatives from the faculty, the Student Government Association, the campus bookstore, Information Technology, and Institutional Effectiveness to launch an OER initiative. Our efforts consisted mainly of data gathering, including surveying faculty and students about course materials and affordability. We intended to analyze the data with an eye toward identifying the highest impact actions that will lower barriers to course materials for Skidmore students. Though we did establish a student book exchange library through the SGA, the rest of our OER initiative has stalled out due to staffing constraints.
