Overview

The University of Richmond is committed to access and affordability, a prominent goal of the current strategic plan. The University Libraries support this goal by providing education, support and programs to promote the use of open educational resources. The Libraries have sponsored workshops, such as the Open Textbook Network, for faculty to learn and discuss how to use OER in their courses. By collaborating with the campus bookstore, we create a Textbook Libguide each semester whereby students can easily search for texts available in the library's collection. We also work with faculty to purchase unlimited licensing for e-books that are required for course readings. As a liberal arts institution, we are exploring how student-created projects can be licensed under Creative Commons and emerge as OERs.
