Overview
The University of Delaware is the largest University in Delaware, with a total enrollment of 23,000. With the support of senior administration of the University, the library began an initiative to spread awareness and adoption of open educational resources in August, 2016. In its first year, the library has conducted orientations for faculty on open textbooks and open educational resources during faculty development workshops offered by our Center for Teaching and Assessment of Learning. We have also created displays of open textbooks that are used at faculty events. We have provided funds for the Instructional Improvevment Grants for faculty wishing to reduce costs for students by incorporating open educational resources into their classes as part of a course redesign, and we are currently working with faculty who have been awarded these grants to help them to locate open educational resources and bring them into their course planning. A libguide has also been created to facilitate this research, and the library joined the Open Textbook Network in November, 2017.
